Dīng

Yin Fire · The lamp flame

Ding is fire made intimate: a candle, a hearth, light given to one room at a time. Ding people are perceptive and emotionally precise, warming the few rather than dazzling the many, often becoming the quiet emotional center of a small circle. A flame that focused is also exposed: sensitive to drafts, prone to overthinking, and capable of being snuffed by an environment that never shields it.

The element

Fire (yin)

expression, visibility, warmth

Its twin

Bǐng

Same element, opposite polarity: the sun.

How Dīng relates to the other elements

Fed by Wood

木 Wood is this day master's Resource 印: learning, backing, recovery.

Feeds Earth

土 Earth is its Output 食伤: expression, craft, and what it produces.

Directs Metal

金 Metal is its Wealth 财: opportunity and resources worked for.

Directed by Water

水 Water is its Officer 官杀: structure, duty, and pressure.

Whether each relation helps or drains depends on the whole chart: a strong Dīng benefits from being worked; a weak one from being fed. The calculator makes that call with the method disclosed.
